Are all Power Washing companies alike?
Absolutely NOT! Anyone can purchase a pressure washer. Simply owning a pressure washer and advertising a service doesn't mean you can operate it effectively or safely. A pressure washer in the hands of an unskilled operator can do a great deal of harm. Commercial power washing/soft washing equipment and accessories are specialized, high quality tools. If someone is offering "the lowest price," they could be cutting corners somewhere, whether its with equipment, cleaning solutions, insurance or quality of services.
Three things every customer should ask BEFORE hiring a pressure washing contractor:
- Is the company licensed and insured?
- Does the company have commercial grade equipment and the professional knowledge of their proper use?
- Will the contractor use the "Soft Wash" method to clean the roof and/or house?
If you answered NO to any of these, then please contact the Pressure Doctor.

What are the black streaks on my roof?
The black streaks are
mold,
algae and
lichen, and it is actually living on and eating your shingles. The algae is called Gloeocapsa Magma. In the late 1980s, roofing manufacturers reformulated asphalt shingles, removing some asphalt and replacing it with crushed limestone. This limestone is the food source for the algae. Left untreated, this can shorten shingle life and increase electric bills due to the loss of the reflective granules.
Algae growth on roofs occurs to varying degrees in all regions of the country, especially those subjected to warm, humid conditions. Nearly all types of roofing are susceptible to streaking and discoloration. It is most visible on lighter colored roofs and less visible on darker shades of roofing.
Utilizing our "Soft Wash" cleaning method, combined with the highest quality cleaning solutions, we rid your roof of these unsightly black streaks. Please contact the Pressure Doctor.

Why should I clean my roof?
- Aesthetics: Keep your house beautiful.
- Roof longevity: Get the most out of your roof.
- Health: Mold causes allergies.
- Value: Protect your investment.
- Energy costs: A stained roof = higher energy bills.
Did you know that besides being an eye sore, the algae holds water within shingles causing premature aging, rotting, and can shorten the life of your shingles by dislodging the granules that protect and give your shingles color? Also, the dark color of the algae causes your roof to become less reflective and start absorbing and retaining heat, which raises your utility bills making your home less energy efficient.

Will pressure washing do any damage to my roof?
Yes. Pressure washing with high pressure at a close range can and will dislodge the granules from the surface of the shingles and can scar the shingles causing more problems than you started with. Not only that, but pressure washing alone will not help with the
mold and
algae roof stain removal. To stop the algae from growing and feeding, you need the roof cleaning products.
We use a no pressure procedure to clean your roof. We apply our Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) approved cleaning solutions to the roof. This solution is what does all the work. It kills mold, mildew and algae so that it can be rinsed away by mother nature.

Will bleach or chlorine damage my roof?
Absolutely not. Somewhere, somehow there has become a negative view on using bleaches and chlorines. Using these chemicals is actually recommended by the roof manufacturers. They actually go on to say that high pressure washing systems should NOT be used for removing algae.
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) has written a technical bulletin addressing proper cleaning procedures for asphalt shingle roofs with this growth, and it is those procedures that we follow exclusively.
As for your plants and grass, we take all precautions in handling your landscaping. We have two to three person teams to help make sure everything is watered before, during and after to dilute all chemicals. We take care of your home and lawn as though it is our own.

Will cleaning my roof really help save me money?
Yes. Cleaning your roof can help save you money in more ways than one...
- First, the algae and fungus that grows can cause premature roof granule loss and shorten shingle life. So you save money because your roof lasts longer and you won't need to replace it.
- Second, when the algae turns your roof black, it becomes less reflective, and it retains heat; so your air conditioner works harder to overcome the increased heat load, costing more money in electric bills.
- Third, the aesthetics of cleaning your roof when it comes to selling your home can not only help save you money, but can help make you money too.

Should I do-it-myself or hire a professional to clean my roof or house?
Doing it yourself is really up to you. You need to ask yourself this questions, "Is saving the labor costs worth the risk of damaging my house or roof, or worse, falling off?" You can buy cleaners at the local hardware stores, but we find that most people are not satisfied with the results. The wrong cleaner can leave you with streaks and dead plants and grass. In addition, the roof becomes wet and slippery while cleaning, making it unsafe and not recommended without proper equipment.
So to help answer this question, hiring a professional is always the better option.

Why should I have the exterior of my home or business cleaned?
It is important to maintain a clean property for the aesthetic value and much desired curb appeal, along with providing lasting protection against building material degradation. When mold, mildew, algae and other airborne contaminants are allowed to remain on the exterior surfaces of your property, they will contribute to premature paint failure and can also cause permanent staining on your siding materials, gutters and concrete.

What is the dark stain on my siding?
Most likely it is mold, mildew or algae. All of these like to grow in shady areas with high humidity. Under these conditions, they will grow on just about everything such as concrete, vinyl, stucco, stone, bricks and wood, just to name a few.

Isn't mold a health problem?
Yes! Mold and mildew around your home create unhealthy conditions for those with allergies and asthma. We can remove these and other environmental contaminants from on and around your home safely.
Note: If you have children who love to play outside, they are probably playing on driveways and sidewalks around your house. If there is mold, mildew or algae growing on them, you would want to have these areas cleaned. Do you want your kids touching their faces after playing on moldy surfaces? Do you want them tracking these things into your house and onto your carpet?

Why don't you list the prices on your website?
Simple. Every home is different. Different sizes, shapes, siding material, location, amount of contamination or infestation. The only way to be fair to everyone is to actually come out and measure each house and evaluate the work that needs to be done.

Do you have references?
Yes! We have many happy and satisfied customers who would love to share their experience with you. If you are unsure about using our services and would like a list of references, please feel free to
Contact Us.

Are you insured?
Yes! We are fully insured with $1 million of liability insurance. We would be happy to send you a copy of our certificate of insurance upon request.
